Karan Johar: Parenting Teens In Social Media Era ‘Broke Me’

Filmmaker Karan Johar recently shared his thoughts on Netflix’s crime drama series Adolescence. He called the show a “wake-up call” for parents raising kids in the age of social media. Karan, who is the father of twins Yash and Roohi, said the show made him realize how parenting has changed. On Instagram, Karan praised the series as “gut-wrenching” and a “blasterclass” for parents. He mentioned that no book or podcast can fully prepare someone for parenting and that parents must first improve themselves because kids mirror their parents’ actions and beliefs.

Karan compared his childhood to how kids grow up today. He said while he grew up reading books, kids now scroll through reels and live in a world of constant comparisons on social media. He called Adolescence a must-watch for parents, highlighting how it deals with topics like bullying, toxic masculinity, and ignoring children’s behavior patterns. The show deeply impacted him as both a filmmaker and a parent, making him more aware of his responsibilities.
