Ahead of the big release of Squid Game Season 3, Netflix has shared the first 6 minutes of the show — and fans are in for a shock! The clip shows that Player 456, also known as Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), is alive and back.
In the video shared by Netflix Tudum, Gi-hun is shown rising from a coffin shaped like a gift. He looks confused and broken. Surrounded by other survivors, he begs the guards to kill him. But he’s been brought back for a reason — the game is not over yet.
While Gi-hun wakes up in the game, another group is seen searching for a mysterious island connected to strange disappearances.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk explained, “The Front Man didn’t kill Gi-hun because he wants him to suffer. He wants Gi-hun to lose all hope in people and himself. That’s why he sends him back to the game.”
Actor Lee Jung-jae added, “When the coffin opens, it’s like Gi-hun is born again. He has to play again, make choices again.”
Season 3 is the final season of Squid Game. The stakes are even higher now. Season 1 was a huge hit and won many awards, including six Emmy Awards. Season 3 will release this Friday, June 27, on Netflix.
