The trailer of Raid 2 was released on April 8, creating excitement among fans. In the first Raid movie, Ileana D’Cruz played Ajay Devgn’s wife. But in the sequel, Vaani Kapoor has stepped into that role.
At the trailer launch, Ajay Devgn spoke about the change. When asked about the new actress, he said, “Even in Hollywood, things change. Sean Connery wasn’t the only James Bond. It’s about the character, and new actors keep coming in.” His comment explained that casting changes are normal and part of filmmaking.
Vaani Kapoor also addressed the situation and denied any rivalry with Ileana. She said, “There’s no jealousy. We get along well off-screen. I just focused on playing my role honestly and followed the director’s vision. This movie shows a new side of me, and it felt refreshing.”
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 continues the story of IRS officer Amay Patnaik (played by Ajay Devgn), who is back to fight another major financial crime. The film also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor.
It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar under the Panorama Studios banner. Raid 2 will hit cinemas on May 1.
Ajay Devgn is also working on Son of Sardaar 2 with Mrunal Thakur and De De Pyaar De 2 with R. Madhavan and Rakul Preet Singh.
Vaani Kapoor will be seen next in Abir Gulaal opposite Fawad Khan. Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, this film marks Fawad’s return to Indian cinema and will release on May 9.
