Kiara Advani may soon step into the shoes of the legendary actress Meena Kumari for an upcoming biopic. While earlier reports had suggested Kriti Sanon was being considered, new updates say Kiara has been approached for the lead role.
Sources close to the project revealed that Kiara recently heard the script and absolutely loved the narration. Though she hasn’t signed the contract yet, she is seriously considering it. The filmmakers believe Kiara is a great fit for the role because of her looks and strong acting talent.
The movie will showcase the life of Meena Kumari, also known as the “Tragedy Queen” of Hindi cinema. Born as Mahjabeen Bano, Meena Kumari was known for her emotional and dramatic roles. She starred in popular films like Baiju Bawra, Parineeta, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Kaajal, and Pakeezah. She won four Filmfare Awards before passing away at the young age of 38.
The rights to her life story have been officially acquired by filmmaker Sidharth P. Malhotra in partnership with Saregama and the Amrohi family—relatives of her husband, Kamal Amrohi.
If she takes up the film, this could be Kiara’s first project after her pregnancy. She and her husband Sidharth Malhotra announced in February that they are expecting their first child. The baby is likely to arrive this winter.
Kiara also has two major films lined up. She will star in War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, and later appear with Yash in Toxic.
