Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa’s movie Phule was all set to hit theatres this Friday—but it’s been suddenly postponed! Why? The censor board (CBFC) has asked the makers to cut and change some scenes and dialogues.
The film is now delayed by two weeks.
This came after some people in Maharashtra raised concerns about how their community was shown in the movie.
Phule tells the story of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule—two real-life heroes who fought for equality, education, and justice in the 19th century. The trailer showed their fight to bring change for women and Dalits.
The film is directed by Ananth Mahadevan and backed by Dancing Shiva Films and Kingsmen Productions. Zee Studios will now release the movie later.
