“Sitaare Zameen Par Lags Despite ₹1 Cr Advance Booking”

Aamir Khan is finally returning to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, which releases this Friday. It’s his first film in three years, and many people were excited because it’s said to be a spiritual sequel to his beloved movie Taare Zameen Par. But the start isn’t as strong as expected.

🎟️ Advance Booking is Slow

The film’s advance booking only started on Tuesday night, just two days before the release. This delay happened because the film got its censor certificate late. Even after 36 hours, the booking numbers were quite low.

By Thursday morning, the film had sold just over ₹1 crore worth of tickets for its opening day. For a big star like Aamir Khan, this is not a great start. His last film, Laal Singh Chaddha, had earned ₹5.52 crore in advance bookings.

📉 Behind Other 2025 Releases

Sitaare Zameen Par is also behind other big 2025 films in terms of early ticket sales:

• Jaat: ₹2.37 crore
• Kesari Chapter 2: ₹1.84 crore
• Sikandar (Salman Khan): ₹10.09 crore
• Housefull 5 (Akshay Kumar): ₹8.02 crore

Even Kesari Chapter 2 and Laal Singh Chaddha, which didn’t do well, are ahead of it. This slow start is worrying for the makers.

🎬 Can It Bounce Back?

Some experts still believe the film can do well. Film analyst Atul Mohan said that most Aamir Khan films start slow but grow because of good reviews and word of mouth. If audiences like Sitaare Zameen Par, the film might still succeed. But it will have to work really hard after release to turn things around.

Sitaare Zameen Par is directed by RS Prasanna. It stars Aamir Khan as a basketball coach for children with special needs. The movie also features Genelia D’Souza and marks the debut of 10 special needs actors.
