Actors Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor are set to star in the upcoming film Abir Gulaal. The teaser, released on Tuesday, has created excitement among fans. However, the film is already facing opposition in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Ameya Khopkar has said that the party will not allow the film to be released in Maharashtra. According to Dainik Bhaskar, he stated, “We just learned about this film’s release today. Since it features a Pakistani actor, we will not allow it to be released in Maharashtra under any circumstances.” He also mentioned that they are gathering more information about the film before making a final statement.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam also shared his views, saying that Pakistani films do not gain much popularity in India. He added that it is up to the central government to decide whether Pakistani films and actors should be allowed in India.
The teaser of Abir Gulaal features a romantic scene between Fawad and Vaani. The clip shows Fawad singing Kuch Naa Kaho from 1942: A Love Story while sitting in a car with Vaani in the rain.
