Shanaya Kapoor’s much-awaited acting debut, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, is coming soon to OTT. The romantic drama, also starring Vikrant Massey, will start streaming on ZEE5 from September 5. Directed by Santosh Singh, the film was first released in theatres on July 11.
The story is inspired by Ruskin Bond’s “The Eyes Have It.” It follows Jahaan (Vikrant Massey), a blind musician, and Saba (Shanaya Kapoor), an aspiring actress chasing her dreams. Their chance meeting on a train turns into a heartfelt connection, built not on sight but on shared dreams and emotions.
The movie also features Zain Khan Durrani in a supporting role. The music is composed by Vishal Mishra, with songs sung by Vishal Mishra, Jubin Nautiyal, and Asees Kaur.
Daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, Shanaya was earlier supposed to debut with Bedhadak, but that film was shelved. She chose this project instead and shared that playing Saba was “challenging and rewarding.” She also praised Vikrant Massey for his support during filming.
The film didn’t perform well at the box office and got mostly negative reviews. However, the soothing music received appreciation. Critics said the story lacked spark, though it had potential.
Now, with its OTT release, the film gives audiences another chance to watch Shanaya Kapoor’s first big performance.
