Engineer To Superstar: Outsider Shines In ₹835 Cr Epic!

The first glimpse of Nitesh Tiwari’s grand film Ramayana was revealed recently. This film is said to be the biggest and most expensive movie ever made in India, with a huge budget of ₹835 crore.

The cast includes big stars—Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. But what’s surprising is the presence of Ravi Dubey, a former TV actor, who will be seen playing Lakshman in this epic movie.

From Engineering to the Big Screen

Ravi Dubey was born in Gorakhpur and grew up in Delhi and Gurgaon. He studied engineering in Mumbai, but his life changed when he started modeling during college. Soon after, he entered television with Doordarshan’s Stree…Teri Kahaani in 2006. He became popular with shows like 12/24 Karol Bagh, Saas Bina Sasural, and Jamai Raja.

In 2011, he acted in the movie UR My Jaan, which didn’t do well, so he returned to television. Years later, in October 2024, he got his big film break as Lakshman in Ramayana. Interestingly, Arun Govil, who produced his first movie, now plays King Dashratha in this film.

Ravi Dubey Confirms Role

Although there were rumors, Ravi officially confirmed his role only after the title card was released. He shared a touching Instagram post, saying,

“It’s the greatest honour of my life to be part of a story that has shaped generations… Our Truth. Our History.”

About the Film

Ramayana is a two-part film directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. The music is by two legends—AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Part 1 is expected to release on Diwali 2026, and Part 2 on Diwali 2027. While we’ve seen quick shots of Ranbir and Yash, the full look of Ravi, Sai Pallavi, and Sunny Deol hasn’t been revealed yet.
