India’s Costliest Film Beats Avatar With ₹4000 Cr Budget

For a long time, Hollywood films like Titanic, Avatar, and Avengers were the most expensive movies ever made. But now, an Indian film is set to beat them all in terms of budget.
Producer Namit Malhotra recently revealed that the upcoming Indian epic Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, will be made on a huge budget of ₹4000 crore. That’s more than the cost of Avatar ($237 million), Avengers: Endgame ($356 million), and even Kalki 2898 AD, RRR, and Baahubali combined!
Speaking on a podcast, Namit said, “People called me crazy when we started this idea 6–7 years ago. But we wanted to tell the greatest story ever told, and we’re making the world’s biggest film for it.”
The movie will be made in two parts, with the first part releasing on Diwali 2026 and the second in 2027. The cast includes:
- Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram
- Yash as Ravana
- Sai Pallavi as Sita
- Ravi Dubey as Lakshman
- Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
