Pakistani Man Criticises Dhurandhar For Glorifying Rehman Dakait
A Pakistani social media user from Karachi has shared his review of the Bollywood film Dhurandhar, which is set in the city’s Lyari area and shows its gang culture.
Posting on Reddit, the viewer said he liked the film and praised its direction and visuals, calling it a good watch.
However, he said he felt uncomfortable with how real-life gangster Rehman Dakait was shown in the movie. Played by Akshaye Khanna, the character felt too glorified. The viewer explained that since Rehman Dakait was a real criminal, it was hard for him to see the character as just fiction.
To make his point, he compared it to a film showing Dawood Ibrahim in a positive light. He added that changing the character’s name could have avoided the issue.
Despite this, the reviewer said Dhurandhar is still a good movie. He also pointed out a small detail, saying real-life cop Chaudhary Aslam was known for not wearing a bulletproof vest, even during risky encounters.
About Dhurandhar:
The film stars Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy who enters Pakistan and joins Rehman Dakait’s gang. Mixing fiction with real events, the movie has turned into a box office hit, earning over ₹872 crore worldwide.
