Raid 2 Beats Drishyam 2 With ₹18 Cr Day 1 Opening

Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 had a strong opening at the box office, collecting ₹18.25 crore on its first day, according to early estimates. The movie released in theatres nationwide on May 1 and is a sequel to the 2018 hit Raid. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film also stars Vaani Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh.

The film had an overall 31.81% Hindi occupancy on Thursday. Morning shows recorded 21.23%, afternoon 35.76%, and evening shows saw a rise to 38.45%.

Raid 2 did better than Ajay’s Drishyam 2, which opened at ₹15.38 crore, and outperformed Sunny Deol’s Jaat 2 (₹9.50 crore). However, it couldn’t beat the massive ₹31 crore opening of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava 2.

In Raid 2, Ajay returns as IRS officer Amay Patnaik, taking on a powerful figure named Dada Manohar Bhai. The film also features Saurabh Shukla in a special role, reprising his part from the first film.
