Ram Kapoor On Mistry Row: ‘Didn’t Mean To Offend’

Actor Ram Kapoor was recently removed from the promotions of his upcoming web show Mistry after he made inappropriate and offensive remarks during media interactions.

Now, Ram has broken his silence and admitted that he did make those comments, but said he never meant to offend anyone.

In an interview with The Times of India, Ram said, “Yes, I said those things. I’m guilty as charged. But I never thought they would hurt anyone. I was just being my usual, casual self with people I felt comfortable with. We were all laughing and joking. If I had sensed anyone was upset, I would’ve stopped right away.”

Ram also added that while he didn’t mean to offend, he understands now that some younger team members felt hurt by his remarks.

He said, “It’s not okay if they were offended. I respect the platform’s decision to remove me from promotions. It’s a lesson learned. I don’t blame anyone, and I will personally apologise to each person who felt uncomfortable. I also want my fans—and my son—to know that I take this seriously.”

What Happened?

The controversy happened during Mistry promotions at a Mumbai hotel. Ram made several inappropriate jokes, including:

  • A joke about kissing a male marketing team member
  • A comment saying his mother “should have gone to sleep” instead of having him
  • Comparing interviews to being “gang-raped”
  • Referring to sexual positions
  • Commenting on female crew members’ clothes, saying “If they’re in my line of sight, how can I not look?”

These comments led to strong backlash from the show’s team and audience, resulting in his removal from promotional activities
