Vinay Pathak On Special Ops 2: Politicising Films Is Wrong

Actor Vinay Pathak is clear when it comes to political controversies around movies. Talking about his film Phule, which stars Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa, he criticized those who spread hate without even watching the movie.
“I find it sad when people politicise films. If you don’t like a film, just don’t watch it. But most people who criticise haven’t even seen it,” he said.
Phule, a biopic on social reformers Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule, faced issues with the Censor Board because of its caste references. It was supposed to release on April 11 but finally hit theatres on April 25. Vinay added, “A small film like Phule was blown out of proportion. But when it released, people loved it. Good films always shine.”
He also spoke about how he handles online trolling. At 56, he says, “I think I’ve learned how to deal with it. Trolls are not new. There have always been people who don’t like your work. I just take it lightly. If someone says something rude online, it might even be a bot!”
Vinay believes in staying calm and smart, not emotional, when facing criticism.
