Anil Sharma Talks About Dharmendra’s Last Moments

Filmmaker Anil Sharma, a close family friend of the Deols, has shared emotional details about Dharmendra’s last days. He said that after being discharged from the hospital, the legendary actor seemed to be recovering. When Anil visited Dharmendra at home, he was responsive, opening his eyes and moving his hands, giving everyone hope.

Anil recalled, “Doctors said Dharmendra was very strong. Even in the hospital, it looked like he would recover. Everyone was hopeful, and we thought we would celebrate his birthday on 8 December.” Dharmendra would have turned 90 next month.

Dharmendra and Anil Sharma’s Collaboration

Anil Sharma worked with Dharmendra on many films, starting with Hukumat (1987). They also collaborated on Elaan-E-Jung, Farishtay, and Tahalka.

Anil also directed Sunny Deol in hits like Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Singh Saab the Great, and Gadar 2, and Bobby Deol in Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo (2004). In Apne (2007), he brought together all three Deols: Dharmendra, Sunny, and Bobby.

About Dharmendra’s Death

Legendary actor Dharmendra passed away on 24 November 2025 at the age of 89. Affectionately called the “He-Man of Bollywood”, he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital earlier in November due to breathlessness. Although discharged and showing improvement at home, his condition suddenly worsened. He spent his final moments surrounded by family.

Dharmendra leaves behind his wives Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, children Sunny, Bobby, Esha, and Ahana Deol, and his extended family. Over a career of more than six decades, he remained one of Bollywood’s most loved and enduring stars.
