Deepika Says ₹500–600 Crore Films Don’t Excite Her Now

Deepika Padukone’s 2025 has been full of ups and downs. She began the year as the lead in two major pan-India films, but both projects eventually changed. After her public fallout with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, she walked out of Spirit. Later, she was also dropped from the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD.

In 2024, Deepika was one of the main stars of Kalki 2898 AD, a massive blockbuster. But now, her focus as an actor has shifted.

‘Not about ₹500–600 crore films anymore’

In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar India, Deepika said that huge-budget movies don’t excite her the way they used to. She shared that she is no longer chasing fame or money.

She said, “How much more fame, success, or money do I need? It’s not about ₹100 crore films or even ₹500–600 crore films anymore.”

When told that she has already achieved everything, Deepika replied that she is more interested in supporting new talent now. She wants to empower writers, directors, producers, and creative minds. That’s what she finds meaningful at this stage of her career.

Why she exited Spirit and Kalki sequel

Reports earlier claimed Deepika was removed from Spirit because she asked for an 8-hour work limit after becoming a mother. Triptii Dimri has now replaced her in the film.

In August, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD also announced that she won’t be part of the next film in the franchise.

Upcoming films

Deepika still has two big releases ahead. She will reunite with Shah Rukh Khan for King, directed by Siddharth Anand, also starring Suhana Khan. After that, she will appear with Allu Arjun in director Atlee’s next film.

King is set to release in 2026, and the Atlee–Allu Arjun movie (AA22xA6) will release in 2027.
