“I Want To Bring SRK-Level Charm To Cinema: Tahir Raj Bhasin”

As Bollywood faces tough competition from South Indian films, the rise of OTT platforms, and changing audience choices, actor Tahir Raj Bhasin sees this as an exciting time, not a setback. Inspired by Shah Rukh Khan, especially his 90s era where he played both charming and flawed roles, Tahir wants to bring similar magic and disruption to today’s cinema.
SRK’s Influence on Tahir
In a recent interview, Tahir said, “SRK in the 90s was bold and charming – whether it was the villain in Baazigar or the lover in DDLJ. I want to bring that same energy to today’s stories—something fresh, bold, and entertaining.”
Rave Reviews in Special Ops 2
Tahir is currently being praised for his intense performance as The Collector in Special Ops 2 alongside KK Menon. Interestingly, his villainous role has gained many female fans. “I thought the show would appeal more to men because of the action. But the love from women surprised me,” he said.
Cinema vs OTT: Both Matter
Tahir believes both cinema and OTT platforms are important. “Watching a movie in a theatre is magical. But some stories are best told in episodes on OTT. Both formats are exciting and serve different experiences,” he explained.
No Film Family, No Problem
Without any Bollywood family background, Tahir has carved his place through talent. He believes the industry is changing and it’s the perfect time for new experiments and storytelling. “Change brings new ideas. And I’m here for it,” he said.
What’s Next?
Tahir recently finished shooting a Netflix thriller with Parineeti Chopra, directed by Renzil D’Silva. He’s also reading new scripts for films and hopes to be back on the big screen soon.
A true 90s Bollywood fan, Tahir says, “Any kid who grew up watching SRK is a romantic at heart. If the right script comes, I’d love to play a lover boy too.”
