Intl Emmys 2025: Diljit Dosanjh, Chamkila Miss The Win
Imtiaz Ali’s film Amar Singh Chamkila received two big nominations at the 53rd International Emmy Awards. Diljit Dosanjh was nominated for Best Actor, and the film was nominated for Best TV Movie/Mini-Series. But on Monday night in New York (Tuesday morning in India), both missed out, and India did not win any awards this year.
Amar Singh Chamkila loses Best TV Movie/Mini-Series
The film was competing against:
- Germany’s Herrhausen: The Banker and the Bomb
- The UK’s Lost Boys and Fairies
- Chile’s Vencer o Morir (Victory or Death)
Diljit Dosanjh loses Best Actor
Diljit Dosanjh was nominated alongside:
- David Mitchell for Ludwig
- Oriol Pla for Yo, adicto (I, Addict)
- Diego Vasquez for One Hundred Years of Solitude
Spanish actor Oriol Pla won the award for his emotional performance as a recovering drug addict.
About Amar Singh Chamkila
Amar Singh Chamkila is a Netflix biopic about the famous Punjabi singer who was shot dead in the 1980s. Diljit Dosanjh plays Chamkila, and Parineeti Chopra plays his wife, Amarjot Kaur.
Earlier in the evening, Diljit and Imtiaz walked the International Emmys red carpet. Diljit greeted photographers with his signature namaste.
