“Saloni Chopra Slams Zain Khan Durrani Casting”

Actor and filmmaker Saloni Chopra has criticised the new Amazon Prime Video film Songs of Paradise for casting her alleged abuser, actor Zain Khan Durrani. Saloni first accused Zain of abuse in 2018 during the MeToo movement in India. The film released last weekend on Amazon Prime Video.
Saloni shared a detailed note on Instagram, describing the abuse she faced, including being choked and dragged by Zain. She said she went public after seeing he was hurting other women. She added that she received a generic apology from him.
Saloni wrote, “And yet today, he’s acting in an Amazon Prime film. Promoted. Praised. Polished into a man worth celebrating. So next time you wonder why women don’t speak? This is why.”
She also pointed out that other actors in the film, some known as feminists, are working alongside him, while women who speak up face struggles. “Women like myself, filmmakers trying to amplify women’s voices, struggle to get our work seen. While men who hurt women get prime-time,” she added.
Her post was titled: “Why does Bollywood keep working with abusive men?” She criticised the industry for promoting men accused of abuse while sidelining the victims.
