Stolen Review: A Quiet Thriller By Abhishek Banerjee

Language: Hindi and some Bengali
Director: Karan Tejpal
Cast: Abhishek Banerjee, Shubham Vardhan, Mia Maelzer

The movie Stolen is a crime thriller that shows the real struggles of people in society without extra drama. It tells the story of two brothers, Raman (Shubham Vardhan) and Gautam (Abhishek Banerjee), who love each other but think differently. They come together to find a missing baby named Champa.

The story begins when Gautam comes to pick up Raman from the railway station. Raman misses his flight because of their mother’s wedding. At the station, Raman meets Jhumpa (Mia Maelzer), a woman desperately searching for her five-month-old daughter who was kidnapped while she was sleeping.

The brothers join the search for the baby, and through this, the movie shows the harsh realities of a broken system where poor people struggle to get justice. It also talks about the misuse of surrogacy and how the police fail to do their job properly.

Stolen has been praised in many film festivals for its simple yet strong story and great acting. Mia Maelzer as Jhumpa stands out with her powerful expressions. She looks scared but determined to find her baby. Abhishek Banerjee’s character Gautam also changes from being uninterested to the one who helps bring the baby back.

The film is fast-paced and keeps you hooked from start to finish. The honest performances and real story make Stolen a must-watch
