CBFC Cuts Kisses, Mutes Word in Varun–Janhvi Film

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, a romantic comedy by Dharma Productions, is hitting theatres this Thursday on Dussehra. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given the film its certificate with just a couple of changes. The kissing scenes in the movie have been reduced by 60%. The report doesn’t mention which actors were involved in those scenes.
Another surprising change is the muting of the word ‘guard’. While the word may sound harmless, it was used in the film as a joke to replace a Hindi curse word that sounds similar. This can also be seen in the trailer, where Varun’s character uses it in a funny way. To avoid confusion, the CBFC decided to mute the word wherever it appears.
This film is part of the popular Dulhania series, earlier led by Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. In this new story, Varun and Janhvi’s characters fake a romance to make their exes jealous. But soon, real feelings start to grow, leading to comedy and drama.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari will release on October 2, clashing at the box office with Rishab Shetty’s big action-drama Kantara: Chapter 1.
