Priyanka Chopra just dropped a sweet note as Rekha’s iconic film Umrao Jaan returns to theatres on June 27! Sadly, she won’t be able to attend, but she made sure to show her love for the timeless classic.
Sharing a beautiful clip of Rekha, Farooque Shaikh, and Naseeruddin Shah, Priyanka wrote on her Instagram Stories:
“So sad to not be there to support my favourite movie and actors. It will be a legendary night. Congratulations Re ma’am!”

This 1981 masterpiece, based on the novel Umrao Jaan Adaa, has been fully restored and is making a comeback on the big screen. Rekha’s unforgettable role as Amiran won her a National Award, and the film also bagged awards for music, art direction, and playback singing. The soulful songs and stunning sets still captivate fans today.
